My Online Services
Individual Therapy
Online therapy for adults is a convenient way to get the care you deserve. During a session, we’ll focus on relieving the strain for whatever’s bothering you. We’ll explore what caused the issue, the history behind it, then work on calming your emotions. We’ll collaborate to help you reduce concerns and develop life balance.
An Identity-Affirming Space
In our current political climate, it’s important that you have a space to feel safe, seen, and heard, especially for people of color and LGBTQIA+ folx. I use an affirming approach that will give you space to be yourself without the fear of being judged or dismissed for your identity. Internal Family Systems is unique in that it allows room to work through emotional burdens that come from living in American culture. Whatever your racial or ethnic identity, gender or sexual identity, or religious or spiritual orientation, my social work background ensures there's a welcoming space for your diverse experiences.
Internal Family Systems (IFS)
IFS is an evidence-based, trauma-informed therapy that helps you understand why you react to certain things in your life. In other words, IFS is backed by research supporting its effectiveness, and it’s designed so we work at the right pace in a way that reduces overwhelm.
I use IFS to help clients understand what’s happening in their lives, while gaining some space from emotions you experience without pushing them away. In time, we’ll safely work toward healing emotional burdens that have accumulated over your life. Eventually, this will help you rediscover yourself again while increasing emotional stability. Read this blog post to learn how IFS can help you.
First Session
During our first session, we will explore what you want to change, and you'll share your background, including mental health, family, and substance use histories. We’ll also explore what you hope to get out of our work together, and I’ll answer any questions you have about therapy, especially if this is your first time. Depending on your situation, we may experiment with some tools to help regulate your emotions.
Anxiety
Anxiety often arises when we worry about things in the future that are out of our control. It can cause spinning thoughts, insomnia, and the feeling of always being on edge. Learning to regulate your nervous system can help to slow things down, then we’ll explore when anxiety starts impacting your life, since insight creates the foundation for relief.
Depression
Depression is one of those emotions that can creep up in a way you may not notice at first. Whether you feel sad, irritable, tired, or angry, depression can rob you of motivation and make you feel isolated from yourself and others. We’ll work on some skills to help you feel stable, then safely explore what’s hiding behind the emotions so you’ll feel empowered to move forward over time.
Job Stress & Career Changes
We spend a lot of time at our jobs and get a lot of meaning out of our careers, but managing work and life demands, as well as relationships in and out of the office, can be stressful. Whether you're out of work, well established, or ready for a new job, balancing your personal needs and family demands can be confusing. We’ll explore what creates your stress then find ways to address it using IFS and other means.
Life Transitions
Whether you’re starting a family, just moved to the area, or experienced a break up, big life transitions can make you question your identity and the meaning of your life. Life transitions are tough, but we’ll collaborate on untangling the confusion to develop your confidence again.
Men's Issues
If you’re a guy, you might feel pressure to have life all figured out while performing at your highest potential all the time. The truth is that's impossible to sustain, and we all go through rough patches. Men are usually taught to master their logical minds and rarely their emotional cores, which can create problems with understanding ourselves and the people we care about.
We’ll work on helping you understand your emotions, improve communication with loved ones, and talk through what’s been bothering you, so you can feel more in control of your life again. Whether you're a new dad, there are problems in your relationship, or you've just lost your spark, having a place to talk through things without being judged is vital to making positive, lasting change.
